Reportage

The Bronx Botanical Garden

Posted by Eddie Pena on August 31, 2009 at 1:15 am

I went to The Botanical Gardens the other day and instead of drawing flowers I found myself in the middle of a cooking demonstration. It is one of many summer-long exhibitions the Garden is hosting.  It was fun drawing these guys, but the best part was eating the food! Thanks.

Remembering….

It’s been a while. I just simply wanted to say thank you. Thank you for all you taught me, thank you for the wonderful friends you put into my life.

Chartres Cathedral

Posted by Eddie Pena on July 28, 2009 at 5:47 am

This is a drawing I produced on my trip to Paris. Inside the wacky yet beautiful Chartres Cathedral I came across this statue of what appears to be the Virgin Mary being carried by angles into heaven. It really caught my attention; it brought the design of the supernatural to life.

Posted by Eddie Pena on July 21, 2009 at 7:08 am

I’ve [...]

IAGO/Deception

Posted by Eddie Pena on July 13, 2009 at 8:52 am

Iago is a fictional character in Shakespeare’s Othello. I had been reading Othello and began to think about to best way to describe Iago, the deceiver, manipulator, reptile. His tongue split down the middle ready to speak dual truths.
I know people like this, they come to believe their own truths and they believe [...]

Mechanically recovered meat

Posted by Eddie Pena on June 27, 2009 at 6:01 am

A hot dog (frankfurter, frank, wiener, weenie) is a moist sausage of soft, even texture and flavor, often made from mechanically recovered meat or meat slurry. I live here in New York City and WISDOM tells me don’t touch those hot dogs but sometimes HUNGER gets the better of me. You would think the term [...]

One Drawing a Day, that’s 365 drawings in a year. Not bad, it’s fortunate for my colleagues and I that we love to draw. As reportage artists, Illustrators, designers, photographer, film makers and painters we love to think with our hands.
The drawing for today speaks for itself. That’s my Grandpa, he has the [...]
